The bodies of 23-year-old Gilberta Estrada and three of her children, ages five, three, and two, were found by Estada's sister hanging in a closet of their mobile home at the Oak Hills mobile home park just outside of Fort Worth. An eight-month-old infant was also hanging but was alive. She was taken to Cook Children’s Medical Center in Fort Worth for treatment and reportedly is in good condition.

Alejandra Estrada forced her way into the locked home after becoming concerned when her sister did not show up for work.

A relative of Gilberta Estrada said she had been depressed in recent months. She won a restraining order against the father of her infant daughter, Gregorio Frayre Rodriguez, in November 2006. The two had not been residing together since February 2007.

Child Protective Services will determine who will take custody of the surviving infant. An investigation into the deaths is ongoing.
