The worker has filed a Federal Employers' Liability Act suit in Madison County, Illinois, saying his injuries are so severe that he suffers flashbacks and may have permanent emotional and psychological damage.

The man was struck by a Federal Railroad Administrative Safety Vehicle, operated by Union Pacific, while operating a grapple boom truck over railroad tracks in Wood River.

The employee claims Union Pacific did not provide him with safe conditions and failed to provide a reasonably safe crossing. The man also alleges U-P failed to provide safe equipment and help.

He claims injuries to his chest, back, kidneys, head, bladder, face, arms, legs, shoulders, and neck have resulted in lost wages, medical expenses, and the inability to lead a normal life.
