Boeing Sued over Deadly 2005 Plane Crash in Sumatra

Nearly 150 people, including dozens on the ground, perished when the Boeing 737-200 plunged into a residential area near the Sumatran city of Medan.
The complaint was filed in federal court in Chicago.
The lawsuit also names United Technologies Corp. The maker of the engines that powered the jet, Pratt & Whitney, is a subsidiary of United Technologies Corp.
The accident occurred on September 5th, 2005, as the jetliner departed for Jakarta. The plane crashed onto a busy road and burst into flames immediately after takeoff.
