The lawsuit was filed by the mother of one of the three children killed in the early morning blaze. The three children, aged between five and eight, allegedly died from severe burns and smoke inhalation. An alleged malfunction in the cooker’s electrical cord led to a short that is thought to have started the fire.

A lawyer for Tiger Corp. said that after thoroughly investigating the claims, the company has concluded that it had committed no wrongdoing in the case.

Brian Johnson, from the Minneapolis-based Halleland Lewis Nilan & Johnson, the firm representing the company, claimed that the company had hired three respected experts to analyze and inspect the rice cooker and had found no evidence that the cooker had started the blaze.

Oahn Thach and Kim Thach brought the lawsuit against the company on Tuesday. Their lawyer has declined further comment regarding the case.
