The McDonnell Douglas plane crashed early Friday morning 7.5 miles from Suleyman Demirel airport in Isparta.

Emergency workers have located the plane's data recorders and the cause of the crash is being investigated.

Large portions of the wreckage were seen on overhead video to be intact; however, the fore and aft sections appeared to be smashed. It did not look like the plane had caught fire, and the emergency exits appeared to be open.

Officials say contact with the pilots was lost just after they had received permission to land.

A spokesperson with AtlasJet says the aircraft had no known technical problems, and the weather conditions in the area were normal at the time of the crash.
