Former Professional Football Player Added to Medical Malpractice Lawsuit

The $250,000 cap was approved by Texas voters in 2003.

Springs’ wife filed a medical malpractice suit last January after her husband fell into a coma during surgery to remove a cyst from his arm. Springs has remained comatose since October.

The new lawsuit, filed on Feb. 25, is the first federal challenge to Texas’ Medical Malpractice and Tort Reform Act.
