The plaintiff, Robin Blount, claims she slipped on a wet terrazzo floor in an upstairs hallway of the courthouse nearly seven years ago as she was reporting for jury duty.

According to the lawsuit, the floor became slippery from wet umbrellas and raincoats being constantly brought through the courthouse on the rainy February day.

Blount is suing the county for negligence. It was the county’s responsibility to keep the floors dry, her lawyer, Robert Greenberg, asserts.

In an attempt to prove that there was, in fact, water on the floor and that it caused Blount’s fall, Greenberg has consulted a professional engineer.

Meanwhile, the attorney for the county, Judson Barrett, asserts that no one reported that the floor was wet. Furthermore, he claims, there is no history of slip and falls due to wet floors at the courthouse. In addition, Blount was reportedly wearing high heels at the time of her accident.
