On Thursday night in Phoenix, a pickup truck driver lost control of his vehicle near a condominium complex, swerved off the road, hit a cyclist, and slammed into a condo.
The vehicle completely entered the condo, leaving a gaping hole in its wall and killing a puppy that lived in the condo. The family living in the condo was present at the time of the accident but was uninjured. No other injuries inside the condo or the complex were reported.
The cyclist who was hit was walking his bike near the road. The bike was mangled, and the cyclist was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Neighbors who witnessed the aftermath of the accident, which occurred around 10:30 p.m., reported it to police.
Witnesses reported a loud bang upon impact and smoke-like dust at the scene.
Police suspect that the driver of the pickup truck had been drinking prior to the accident and took him into custody. The driver is being processed for a possible DUI.
