The divorce settlement Robyn Gibson receives in the divorce from her husband, actor Mel Gibson, could reach $500 million, sources say. This sum would be one of the largest divorce settlements in Hollywood history.

Robyn filed for divorce on April 13 (citing irreconcilable differences). She is seeking joint custody of the couple's youngest son (their only minor child), spousal support, and attorney fees. It does not appear that the couple, which married in 1980, signed a prenuptial agreement. If this is true, Robyn would be legally entitled to half of the $1 billion fortune her husband earned during their marriage. His assets include earnings from acting, film and TV project production, and real estate investments. Robyn would also be entitled to half of whatever film residuals Mel receives in the future.

The 500 million dollar settlement is much larger than those obtained in previous celebrity divorces, including that of Michael Jordan and wife Juanita ($168 million); Neil Diamond and wife Marcia Murphey ($150 million); and Steven Spielberg and wife Amy Irving ($100 million).
