In a recent announcement made by the Boulder County sheriff's office, the County will pay $125,000 to settle a lawsuit filed by a woman who was injured in a car accident in May 2006.

The victim, Alexandra Eason, was in the front passenger seat of a friend's Subaru Legacy when the vehicle was rear-ended by a marked patrol car driven by Deputy Dave Sherratt. The accident occurred at Jay Street and 47th Street where the Subaru had stopped for a red light.

In her lawsuit, Eason claimed that she suffered permanent brain injuries as a result of the accident.

According to the Boulder County sheriff's office media release, the board of county commissioners approved the terms of the settlement. The statement also said that the Sheriff's Office and Deputy Sherratt did not dispute their liability.

Eason, a former University of Colorado student, filed the lawsuit in May of this year.
