Lindsay Lohan's plans to make a movie in Texas were put on hold this week when a Los Angeles County Superior Court judge refused a request to ease the terms of the celebrity's probation for driving under the influence. The terms include weekly testing in the Los Angeles area for drugs and alcohol and wearing an electronic device that detects alcohol in the wearer's perspiration.

It was the same Superior Court Judge Marsha Revel who last week issued a bench warrant for Lohan's arrest when the celebrity failed to return from the Cannes Film Festival in time for a probation hearing. The warrant was withdrawn the same day, after Lohan posted bail.

Lohan Claims Passport Was Stolen at Cannes Film Festival

Lohan's attorney, Shawn Chapman Holley, told the judge that Lohan's passport had been stolen, preventing her from traveling. He said he could produce an airplane ticket as evidence that she planned to make her court date.

Judge Revel set a hearing for July 6 to hear more about Lohan's failure to appear. According to reports from Cannes, Lohan was partying until the wee hours of the morning that she was supposed to appear at the Beverly Hills Courthouse. Although she managed to show up for this week's hearing, she was several minutes late.

Probation Result of 2007 DUI Arrest, Guilty Plea

Lohan's probation is the result of a 2007 DUI arrest. At that time, she pled guilty to two misdemeanor counts of being under the influence of cocaine and no contest to two counts of drunk driving and one count of reckless driving. She spent 84 minutes in jail and performed community service at the county morgue

In October, Lohan's probation was extended because of reports that she had violated the rules of an alcohol abuse education program that was part of her sentence.

If you've been arrested for DUI, do what Lindsay Lohan did; get an experienced attorney to help you deal with the court system. You don't have to be a celebrity to have rights. Your attorney will ensure you get all your rights as a defendant, and that, if convicted, your punishment fits the crime.
