The woman, Rebecca N. Cox, suffered numerous injuries in the accident, including spine and neck fractures, collapsed lungs, brain damage, and other problems requiring more than 10 surgeries. She was in a coma for nine days following the collision, and is expected to require intensive care for the rest of her life.

The Time Warner Cable van driver, Matthew Vornberg, was charged with a stop sign violation.

In the family’s lawsuit against Time Warner, a Butler County jury awarded Cox and her family more than $860,000 and their insurance carriers approximately $63,000 as reimbursement for Cox’s past medical treatment, on Nov. 3.

At the time of the crash, Cox's identity was not known. Her mother, Susan Cantrell, recognized her daughter's vehicle in a news photo of the crash 19 hours later and then rushed to Miami Valley Hospital, where Cox had been transported by medical helicopter.
