Georgia Auto Accident Statistics

In 2006, the last year for which auto accident statistics are available on the Georgia Department of Transportation's website, a total of 342,534 auto accidents occurred on the state's roadways. These accidents caused 1,703 deaths and 133,555 injuries; of these injuries, 95,339 were classified as minor, 31,827 were classified as moderate, and 6,389 were classified as serious injuries. Serious injuries can include brain injury, spinal cord injury, paralysis, and other injuries that can result in a lifetime of disability and inability to work.

Annual Death and Injury Statistics

During the four year period from 2002 to 2005, the number of auto accident injuries and fatalities in Georgia increased each year. In 2006, the number of people injured and killed in auto accidents decreased.
